Summer Pro Bono & Public Interest Forum

Our 2018 Summer Forum features keynote speaker David Cole, national legal director for the American Civil Liberties Union. The ACLU is the oldest and largest civil-liberties organization in the nation. In his role as national legal director, David manages hundreds of lawyers, thousands of volunteers, and over 1,400 state and federal lawsuits on a broad range of civil-liberties issues. David will discuss his public-interest career and the importance of lawyers who seek to protect the rights of the indigent and marginalized.

After lunch and David Cole's keynote speech, we'll offer breakout sessions where you can learn more about pro bono and public-interest work in DC. In particular, we'll cover civil rights & civil liberties, criminal law & death penalty, human rights & immigration law, poverty law, and non-litigation practice.

The Summer Forum is open to Washington Council of Lawyers members (join), participants in summer-associate and summer-intern programs, and others interested in learning more about practicing law to benefit those in need.

This event is a tradition for many summer programs because it highlights the value of incorporating pro bono or public-interest work into future legal careers. And it routinely sells out—so save your spot today!
