Interested in Volunteering with the Courthouse Project?
Are you an attorney looking for a volunteer opportunity but have limited amounts of time? VLSP has the project for you!
All you need is one free afternoon a month! Receive free training and hands-on litigation and negotiation experience through VLSP's COURTHOUSE PROJECT
Are you concerned about housing rights?
Use your legal skills to assist San Francisco residents facing unlawful detainer settlement conferences. VLSP's Courthouse Project is your chance to develop and sharpen your negotiation skills. The Courthouse Project provides pro bono limited scope representation for individuals and families facing eviction cases.
New and experienced volunteer attorneys are needed to staff unlawful detainer settlement conferences and provide limited scope representation to un-represented litigants during their mandatory settlement conferences. For inexperienced or new volunteers, mentor attorneys are available.
How do you get started?
New volunteers get started by attending the following two trainings, and committing to taking at least 2 pro bono, full representation eviction defense cases and 2 settlement conference shifts within the next year, or 4 settlement conference shifts within the next year. Current Eviction Defense Project volunteers start by attending the UD Settlement Conference training only and committing to 2-settlement conference shifts within the next year.
All trainings are free in exchange for this volunteer commitment and count toward MCLE credit. Trainings will be held at BASF/VLSP, 301 Battery Street, 3rd Floor, San Francisco. For a complete list of current trainings, see the VLSPtraining calendar.
