WE'RE GLAD THERE'S GLAAD

The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation is "dedicated to promoting and ensuring fair, accurate and inclusive representation of people and events in the media as a means of eliminating homophobia and discrimination based on gender identity and sexual orientation."

Formed in 1985, GLAAD has worked hard to educate and change the media, including national newspapers, the film industry, TV, and magazines. Negative and imbalanced stereotypes of LGBT people have diminished in almost all forms of our nation's media and more and more LGBT issues are covered in national news and in film and on television.

The website is a fantastic resource, is in Spanish as well as English, and offers a media watch (Eye on the Media), ways to mobilize and monitor the media, training services, publications and research, events, and more.
