It should be illegal to hurt children, but children in foster care or welfare systems, or who receive other services, don't often have people helping to make sure that they are treated well and don't suffer abuse and neglect. Lawsuits are one way to improve failing child welfare systems that are profoundly harmful and resistant to change. Ongoing monitoring of these systems after lawsuits ensures children's rights.

Children's Rights works nationally to reform and monitor failing child welfare systems that are profoundly harmful to children. The organization works to make sure that these systems are adhering to federal and state laws and protections or helps create new ways to watch over and reform these programs.
