Organization Description:
AHA provides free, high-quality, legal representation to the poor in affordable housing impact litigation and advocacy. AHA currently implements two projects: Community Leaders Ensuring Accountability in Redevelopment (CLEAR) and the Tenants' Right Project (TRP). CLEAR (Community Leaders Ensuring Accountability in Redevelopment), addresses the critical demand for affordable housing through education and representation of low income residents to enforce State Community Redevelopment Law's (CRL's) affordable housing obligations, including adequate capitalization and proper use of Low and Moderate Income Housing Funds, and development of sufficient replacement and inclusionary housing. The Tenants' Rights Project (TRP) provides legal services and support to tenants, nonprofit community organizers and their constituents, to advocate for affordable housing and tenants' rights including in the areas of condominium conversions, housing elements, and just cause eviction.
