The Nassau County Bar Association (NCBA) is the leading resource for legal information and education for the more than 1.3 million people living in Nassau County. NCBA members have a long tradition of stepping forward to assist children, seniors, the abused and neglected, students, homeowners, parents and teen, and any others in need.
Nassau County has one of the highest rates of mortgage foreclosure in the state. Since 2009, NCBA volunteer attorneys have provided one-on-one legal consultations at free clinics to any Nassau County homeowner who is facing or anticipating mortgage foreclosure.
Post COVID-19, clinics have now resumed being held in-person, monthly on Mondays, 3-6p.m., at the NCBA headquarters in Mineola.
Volunteers also represent homeowners pro bono at court-mandated foreclosure settlement conferences, held weekly, in-person, at Nassau Supreme Court in Mineola, Monday through Thursday mornings.
NCBA is currently seeking student interns to volunteer to assist and support attorneys in court and at clinics, as well as volunteer attorneys to volunteer with the mortgage foreclosure project.
