Central MN Legal Services Volunteer Attorney Program (Willmar)

Looking for a fantastic organization to connect you with financially eligible low-income clients seeking assistance with a wide range of civil legal issues in Anoka, Big Stone, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Lac Qui Parle, Lincoln, Lyon, Meeker, Renville, Swift, Yellow Medicine, and Wright counties.? You've found it! We are seeking volunteers who are willing to share an hour or more of their time by participating in one or more of our volunteer opportunities! Do you have an hour that you can you spend providing remote coverage for a legal advice clinic? Are you are interested in providing mediation services for a family law case? Or perhaps you are willing to provide brief advice or take on a full representation case? We would love to chat with you about how your gift of time and talent can impact someone who otherwise would likely not have access to help with their civil legal issue.

Volunteer attorneys are needed in the following areas: family law, mediation, consumer debt/collection, bankruptcy, landlord/tenant, real estate, guardianship/conservatorship, and wills. Attorneys are needed to provide advice, brief legal services like filling out forms, court representation, and to staff legal advice clinics for eligible clients. Attorneys are free to choose the number and type of cases they wish to accept.

We support our volunteers by sharing information about free/reduced cost CLE trainings, provide access to ProJusticeMN.org, track your hours (& provide this information at the end of the year & as often as you request!). Additionally, you are eligible for CLE credits for the time you spend volunteering with us, you'll be reimbursed for travel, copies, phone, and postage costs, and CMLS-VAP provides malpractice insurance to cover volunteer attorneys.
