Queens County Bar Association / Queens Volunteer Lawyers' Project, Inc. (QVLP)

Queens Volunteer Lawyers Project, Inc., a not-for-profit legal assistance program, provides pro bono attorneys to residents of Queens County who cannot afford to retain a lawyer to resolve their civil legal problems. Volunteer lawyers are assigned to represent indigent persons in Housing Court to avoid or delay eviction; in Family Court to secure custody or visitation rights or child support; in administrative hearings to obtain government benefits which have been denied; in actions to secure uncontested divorces; as well as miscellaneous other matters (such as foreclosures and consumer problems). The suggested volunteer commitment is a minimum of ten hours per year.
