We provide general legal services to low-income residents of Broome, Cayuga, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Herkimer,Jefferson, Lewis, Madison, Onondaga, Oneida, Oswego, Otsego Counties.
We have pro bono opportunities in the areas of bankruptcy, consumer, child support, divorce, estate planning, housing and almost any other civil area. Attorneys can volunteer for Attorney of the Day projects, clinics, Telephone advice through our Legal Helpline, or extended service. CLE credit, malpractice and pro bono recogition are provided. Training and mentoring and co-counsel opportunities are available. No caseload or hours requirement. Volunteers may participate long distance on appropriate projects and cases.
The greatest demand is for divorce representation with priority given to cases involving spouses who have been abused. Most cases handled by volunteer attorneys are uncontested divorce cases. A small number of consumer cases, primarily bankruptcies are also referred.
