MACC Legal is a legal clinic on Detroit's east side that seeks to provide accessible legal services to community members. MACC Legal is connected with Mack Avenue Community Church and seeks to care for its clients holistically, not only providing them with necessary legal services and education, but to care for them spiritually and in other areas of need through MACC Lit, MACC Sports, and MACC Housing.
MACC Legal will operate with volunteer attorneys who can volunteer their time and talents in bi-monthly intakes, pro-bono representation, or legal education seminars. The clinic will charge clients a nominal fee to encourage client's stake in the process and enhance dignity while still maintaining services very accessible in terms of cost to low-income individuals, who otherwise would not have access to legal services. MACC Legal is accessible not only in cost but also in location, which we believe could be life-changing for many in the city of Detroit.
