Neighborhood Legal Services Association offers free civil legal services for individuals and families who would otherwise be denied access to justice -- one of the very basic rights that so many of us take for granted. NLSA exists to protect the poor and vulnerable individuals in our community through effective civil legal representation and provides assistance to those clients seeking a fair resolution to significant problems.
Whether you are currently practicing, recently retired or just starting your career as a law student, NLSA needs your legal talents and experience to help it fulfill its mission. Opportunities for both pro bono and reduced fee referral program work are available for attorneys. Internships for law students, both during the school year and the summer, introduce students to the practice of poverty law through hands on experience.
Neighborhood Legal Services Association has volunteer opportunities available in each of the counties it serves. These opportunities cover general representation of clients and participation in several special projects. Complete information on opportunities and volunteering with NLS is contained in the NLS Pro Bono Opportunities Guide.
