Gwendolyn Clegg has dedicated the past twenty-two years of her legal career representing parents involved in Oklahoma’s juvenile deprived court system. Ms. Clegg has provided numerous presentations centered on parent defense for many organizations including the American Bar Association – Children and the Law division, the State of Oklahoma for the Oklahoma Bar Association and Court Improvement Program, Tulsa County Bar Association, Tulsa Lawyers for Children, Tulsa County Child Protection Coalition as well as many other organizations.
In May 2021, Ms. Clegg became the Program Director, for the newly formed Parent Representation Defense Program at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc., in Tulsa County after having served the program as the Managing Attorney. LASO’s Parent Representation Defense Program is the first parent defense program in Oklahoma to utilize interdisciplinary parent representation funded by private and public dollars.
Prior to becoming the Program Director for the Tulsa County Legal Aid office of Parent Representation Defense, Ms. Clegg was a founding member of the Tulsa County Safe Babies Court where she served as the parent attorney for nearly five (5) years. Ms. Clegg was appointed in July 2019 as a voting member to the Oklahoma Supreme Court Task Force (now Oversight Committee) for the Uniform Representation of Children and Parents in Cases involving Abuse and Neglect. For the past three years, Ms. Clegg has served as an officer on the Oklahoma Bar Association’s Juvenile Law Section. In July 2021, Ms. Clegg was selected to serve on the American Bar Association’s National Parent Representation Steering Committee as well as serving on various sub-committees.
Ms. Clegg received her juris doctorate from the University of Tulsa, College of Law in in May 2000, where she studied abroad in the summer of 1998 in Buenos Argentina. Ms. Clegg received her bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Northeastern State University in 1994. Upon graduation from law school Ms. Clegg received the prestigious Order of the Barrister’s Award and upon recommendation of the faculty was awarded the Lawyering Skills certificate.
Ms. Clegg is a mom to her amazing adult twins, one crazy corgi and three amusing kitty cats. In her spare time she helps her significant other build a small family amusement park.
