Economic security is essential for maintaining basic needs. The consumer bankruptcy process can serve as a valuable tool for individuals to address debt and overcome credit-related barriers to employment, housing, and more. Join us to learn how to advise low-modest means individuals whether to file bankruptcy and if they do, how to navigate the bankruptcy court system on their own, including the risks of filing a bankruptcy without a lawyer. Guidance will be provided to attorneys who are assisting with virtual legal aid clinics such as ABA Free Legal Answers or advising in person. This project is co-sponsored by the American College of Bankruptcy Foundation and the ABA Standing Committee on Pro Bono and Public Service.
