The 8th Annual New York Statewide Civil Legal Aid Technology Conference, convened by the Permanent Commission on Access to Justice in partnership with Cornell Tech will be held remotely via Microsoft Teams beginning at 1:00pm ET on Tuesday, April 18 and Wednesday, April 19, 2023. The conference targets the New York State civil legal aid community and is open to attorneys and other interested staff from New York legal services programs as well as access to justice stakeholders from New York and out-of-state.
After you register you will receive a confirmation from Microsoft Teams with a calendar invite for the opening plenary sessions. You will receive an email with the links to the other sessions closer to the event.
There are 16 sessions offered at this year's conference, including four plenary sessions:
• Rapid Fire Tech, presenters highlight innovative technology initiatives
• Building Cultures of Innovation, law professors discuss teaching legal technology
• LSC Baselines, presenters discuss new 2023 technology baselines for providers
• 25 Apps in 50 Minutes, presenters showcase apps, hacks and hot tips
There are also 12 breakout sessions to choose from. Breakout sessions are loosely divided into four tracks:
Track A: Data and Privacy
Track B: Court Technology
Track C: Law Practice Management
Track D: Online Legal Services Delivery
Content is related to legal technology and the practice of law.
- CLE Credit Comments: A request for New York State CLE credits for the conference is pending. An attendee of the full conference may be eligible to earn up to 7 CLE credits. Credit is sought in the following New York CLE categories: Skills, Law Practice Management, Diversity, Inclusion and Elimination of Bias, and the new required Cybersecurity, Data and Privacy-Ethics and Cybersecurity, Data and Privacy-General. (Effective July 1, 2023 - New York State attorney CLE requirements include 1.0 credit hour in Cybersecurity, Privacy and Data Protection.) The category sought for each session is listed in the agenda.
