The Battered Women's Justice Project is pleased to announce a webinar on the military justice system and the Legal Assistance Program for attorneys and legal advocates who deal with military-related survivors of intimate partner violence. No matter how a client may be connected with the military, questions arise for civilian attorneys. Often, attorneys need information about how the military discipline/justice system works, and what kinds of legal assistance may be available in civil matters.

Presenter: CDR Andrew House, JAGC, USN, Deputy Judge Advocate General for Legal Assistance

Moderator: Ellen C. Schell, Director, Military Families Program, The Legal Project, Albany, NY

Have you ever wondered what kinds of accountability exist for perpetrators of intimate partner violence who are service members? What are courts martial? Not sure whether the UCMJ is a rock band or something to do with military law? What kinds of legal help are available in civil matters for service members and their families? Answers to these questions and more will be available through this webinar. An overview of the military disciplinary/justice system will be provided, as well as an explanation of the Legal Assistance Program. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions in writing, via the webinar chat function, and have those questions answered by the presenter

A webinar is an on-line seminar and requires access to the internet to connect.
