Empowering Professional Development 2023: Professional Identity

Wednesday November 08
2023

  • By: Practising Law Institute
  • Time: 10:00 AM - 11:30 AM
  • Time Zone: Eastern Time (US & Canada)
  • Location:
    Webinar, NY

Why You Should Attend
In this convenient 90-minute session, law firm, consulting, and law school professionals will discuss the emerging concepts surrounding attorney professional identity development. First, we discuss professional identity development in the context of the ABA standards. Next, we will assess whether, and if so how, professional identity development differs from familiar concepts regarding professional development, wellness, and DEIB. Finally, we will share strategies and lessons learned so far in fostering professional identity development in law schools and in law firms and future possibilities in this area of professional development.

What You Will Learn
After completing this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify what “professional identity” is under the ABA rule
  • Recognize what law schools are currently doing to support law students in developing their “professional identity”
  • Appreciate what is and can be happening in professional identity development after law school
  • Consider what their own departments are doing in this regard, and what more they can be doing to support professional identity development in the legal profession

Who Should Attend
Professional development and DEIB professionals in law firms, in-house, law schools, and in other organizations, and attorneys and other professional members interested in improving their own and/or their organization’s professional development efforts.

This program does not offer CLE credit in any jurisdiction.
