Monday October 30
2017

This session provides an overview of the New York City Discipline Code, discipline laws and regulations, and suspension hearing practices in NYC public and charter schools. Trainers will also cover special education laws related to discipline under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA), including disciplinary due process hearing rights before impartial hearing officers and legal and practical information regarding functional behavior assessments (FBAs), behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and other accommodations when advocating for students with challenging behavior. The trainers welcome robust, closing Q and A towards the end of the presentation.
