This webinar will analyze the informal and legal strategies that are available to consumers abused by debt collectors. The Federal Trade Commission receives more complaints about debt collectors than any other type of business and the complaints have been increasing every year for the last ten years. Debt collectors may sue as many as a million consumers each year. Debt buying debt collectors often sue with no evidence to back their claim. The webinar will look at the state and federal protections available to consumers and the growing bar of lawyers suing debt collectors.

The presenters are Robert Hobbs, Deputy Director of the National Consumer Law Center; and Robert Murphy of the Law Office of Robert W. Murphy.

Additional sponsorship for this Webinar is provided by a grant from the Administration on Aging. This webinar is part of a series of National Elder Rights Training Project webinars for the National Legal Resource Center.

There is no charge for this webinar.
