HELP NEEDED AGAIN FOR TPS CLINICS
Since the devastating earthquake in Haiti, many pro bono attorneys assisted at legal clinics throughout the city assisting Haitians in the United States with applications for Temporary Protected Status (TPS), a legal status that allowed them to remain and work in the United States.

On May 17, 2011, the Department of Homeland Security announced an extension and re-designation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals. Those with TPS have until August 22, 2011 to renew their status. Significantly, however, TPS is now available to those who arrived in the US after the earthquake. These individuals have until November 15, 2011 to apply.

With this extension and expansion of TPS, there is once again the need for pro bono assistance to help with TPS applications.

The Brooklyn Defender Services, the Brooklyn Volunteers Lawyers Project, and Lutheran Social Services of New York will be conducting legal clinics every Monday and Thursday, and help is needed:
