Overview
This program is designed to train legal aid, nonprofit, and pro bono attorneys and allied professionals about substance use disorders impacting clients or family members of clients. Expert faculty will provide an overview of latest developments and the science of substance use disorder and recovery and also will address key topics such as fighting discrimination and other barriers, as well as understanding partnership models and best practices for helping clients.
What You Will Learn
After completing this program, participants will be able to:
- Examine latest developments and what legal services and pro bono attorneys need to know about the science of substance use disorders and recovery
- Understand discrimination and ways to address discrimination and barriers
- Focus on the role of the civil legal services attorney
- Explore ethical obligations that can arise when representing clients impacted by substance use disorders
Who Should Attend
This program is designed for legal aid, nonprofit, and pro bono attorneys and allied professionals who navigate legal and administrative systems on behalf of clients affected by substance use disorders.
