Why You Should Attend
This program will benefit legal services, nonprofit, and pro bono attorneys and allied professionals who represent and/or advocate on behalf of linguistically diverse clients. Expert faculty will discuss language access and language justice fundamentals and will provide trauma-informed approaches to working with clients with Limited English Proficiency (LEP).

Practitioners who have experience in a variety of practice areas such as government benefits, intimate partner violence, trafficking, immigration, and education will share insights about how legal services and pro bono advocates can better help their clients who face language access barriers access justice. Attendees will learn trauma-informed approaches for promoting language access and language justice in their own client relationships and will learn best practices for handling attorney ethical obligations.

• Understand the basics of language access obligations and language justice best practices with a trauma-informed advocacy lens
• Identify best practices for trauma-informed language interpretation when working with clients
• Analyze ethical obligations and issues that can arise when working with clients and interpreters who are linguistically diverse
