Why You Should Attend

All too often, people facing mental illness, substance use disorders, family dysfunction, community disorder, and numerous forms of victimization wind up in the justice system. Over the last three decades, court systems across the country have created thousands of problem-solving courts to address these and other issues to improve both the administration of justice and long-term outcomes for individuals, families and communities. At this year's Mental Health Issues & the New York State Courts program, a multi-disciplinary faculty will discuss how problem-solving courts address mental health and other challenging issues and describe current initiatives to broaden the use of problem-solving approaches in the justice system.
