On Thursday, October 14, 2021, from 6:00pm to 7:45pm, Human Rights First will conduct a free virtual asylum training; hosted by the law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP. The training is meant for pro bono attorneys who are already working on asylum cases as well as those interested in taking on a pro bono asylum case and learning more about asylum law and procedure. We will provide an overview of the U.S. asylum law, and then focus on techniques for representing asylum seekers in affirmative process before USCIS and in defensive process before immigration court. The panel of speakers includes an immigration judge, asylum officers, and Human Rights First attorneys. New York and New Jersey CLE credit will be available.
