All immigrants have a right to medical treatment in New York, and many low-income immigrants can enroll in some forms of public health insurance coverage and/or receive financial assistance. This training covers immigrants¹ right to health care and sources of affordable care, provides an overview of immigrant eligibility for the New York State of Health (New York's Health Benefit Exchange), public health insurance programs in New York State, and addresses immigrant family concerns such as public charge, sponsor liability, and repayment of benefits. The session is appropriate for health providers, immigrant advocates, facilitated enrollers, case managers, social workers, and immigration attorneys. This training gives good grounding on immigrants' current eligibility for the Health Exchange Marketplace, public programs, financial assistance, and opportunities for affordable care within today's health care context. The training will be conducted by Paola Medina, Health Advocacy Coordinator and Jackie Vimo, Director of Health Advocacy of the NYIC. To Register go to: http://www.thenyic.org/node/2580
