Nebraska: Free legal answers online

"On Oct. 4, the Nebraska State Bar Association’s Volunteer Lawyers Project launched an website -- Nebraska Free Legal Answers.

Nebraska is one of 40 states participating in the pro bono project, sponsored by the American Bar Association. 

The mission of VLP is to provide quality pro bono legal services to eligible low-income Nebraskans.

NFLA is based on the walk-in clinic model, where individuals request brief advice and counsel about a specific civil (not criminal) legal issue from an approved volunteer lawyer, organizers said.

Lawyers provide information and basic legal advice without any expectation of long-term representation.

In Nebraska, the Nebraska Rules of Professional Conduct for short-term limited representation allow lawyers to provide this limited service..."
