Allegheny County Bar Association logoThe Allegheny County Bar Association Membership Committee and Professional Ethics Committee is hosting the Inaugural Sorg Forum – Ethics Essentials for a Successful Practice on November 2, 2023 from 12:00 PM-1:00 PM Eastern. The program will be a virtual distance learning program. 

ACBA members are invited to attend this free ethics CLE, during which the Hon. Mark R. Hornak of the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pa. will address ethics and professional responsibility issues frequently confronting lawyers in today’s legal practice.

Topics often raised during calls to the ACBA Professional Ethics Hotline will be highlighted including, the following:

  • Establishing and documenting the lawyer/client relationship
  • The challenges of technology, social media and artificial intelligence in the modern legal practice
  • Obligations to courts and adjudicatory bodies
  • Interactions with other counsel
  • Recognizing and addressing conflicts of interest

This CLE is the inaugural Sorg Forum event, designed to advance professionalism among ACBA members. It is funded by the John H. Sorg Fund for Professional Ethics, which was established to maintain and elevate the standard of ethics of the Allegheny County Bar.

The Sorg Fund is housed with the Allegheny County Bar Foundation and is consistent with the ACBF’s charitable and educational purposes as set forth in the Foundation’s governing documents.

    This program has been approved for 1 hour of PA Ethics CLE credit and also qualifies for 1 hour of credit under the West Virginia Rules for Mandatory Continuing Legal Education.
