The hybrid event will cover forced displacement and protection from international and domestic perspectives. Ninette Kelley, former  Senior Officer of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), will speak on People Forced to Flee: History, Change and Challenge.

  There will be panel discussions on:

  • Current Major Crises in Displacement and Protection from a Global and Comparative Perspective
  • Gaps in Protection and Solutions
  • The Status of US Refugee Protection System: Challenges, Deficiencies, and Anomalies
  • Building New Capacities and Rethinking Old Systems

The symposium fee for in-person attendance is $50, which includes meals during the program. The symposium fee to attend virtually is $20.

This hybrid event will take place at the law offices of Fried, Frank, Harris, Shriver & Jacobson LLP (1 New York Plaza / 1 FDR Drive, New York, NY), with virtual access for those unable to attend in person. For those attending virtually, you will receive an email link to join before the event date.

Proof of COVID-19 vaccination and booster shot is required and must be submitted prior to the event if you are attending in person. Please provide your proof of vaccination by uploading a photo or PDF of your vaccination record/card to a platform such as Google Drive or Dropbox and providing a link to the document in the proof of vaccination field on the registration page. You will need to submit this before the event in order to enter the premises. Registration will close the day before the event.
