In November 2020, Americans across the country will be casting their votes in important national, state, and local elections. There is significant public dialogue about voter access this year. However, rarely the unique barriers to voting experienced by survivors of intimate partner violence are highlighted or discussed. This program will discuss these barriers including domestic violence dynamics around voting, access to voting after fleeing from abuse, and registration privacy and confidentiality concerns. We will share with civil legal service attorneys New York's laws designed to provide survivors who wish to vote with greater opportunity for flexibility and safety.
