On October 24, 2017 the Berks County Bar Association is recognizing those individuals who serve on the Berks Pro Bono Team by either volunteering at MidPenn Legal Services, Family Detention Center, Berks Encore, to make presentations at Safe Berks, serving as a Conciliator in the Mortgage Foreclosure Diversion Project or paying the “opt-out” fee.

It will be held at the Crowne Plaza Reading Hotel, 1741 Papermill Road, Reading, PA 19610.

The celebration includes two seminars that are free to Pro Bono Team members. Others who are non-team members may attend at a nominal fee. Those seminars are:

  • 1:30 SEMINAR – Be Prepared: The New Public Access Policy Governing Filings 
    (1 hour substantive credit)

    The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has adopted a Public Access Policy, taking effect on January 6, 2018, requiring attorneys to redact confidential and sensitive information in court-filed documents. This seminar will provide an overview of the new policy and practical tips to prepare for its implementation. A demonstration of Adobe Acrobat Professional and its ability to streamline the redaction process will be included.

  • 2:45 SEMINAR – Tricky Issues in Child Custody Litigation
    (1.5 hours substantive credit)

    This seminar will explore the best approaches to prepare for and then to conduct the judicial examination of a child and, secondly, the panel will discuss international service issues.
