Between 2010 and 2030, immigrants and their children will account for 85 percent of net workforce growth, and by 2050 one in three children under the age of 18 will be either an immigrant or the child of an immigrant in the United States. America’s rapidly evolving classrooms highlight the vital role that K-12 and adult educators play in shaping the future of this country. Immigrant Student Success: Models and Tools for K-12 and Adult Educators, a free online workshop, is for educators seeking to encourage the progress of their immigrant students for the benefit of the entire classroom. Through interactive webinars and live exercises with experts, participants will learn about asset-based models and techniques for capitalizing on classroom diversity. They will be guided through activities and lesson planning that can bring out the best in both immigrant and U.S.-born students. Participants will also learn ways to talk about current immigration issues with their students.
