Immigration Advocates NetworkThe Immigration Advocates Network (IAN) is holding its fourth annual e-conference fundraiser, Cutting Edge Issues in Immigration Law, from November 2 to November 6, 2015. The e-Conference a week-long series of interactive online trainings with national experts on BIA Appeals, U Visas & VAWA, entry & admission, prosecutorial discretion, and working with clients who have diminished capacity. It explores the issues through the lens of current events and the latest legal developments.


Tuesday, November 3 - U Visas and VAWA: Best Practices in Helping Survivors Get Status

This session will discuss how to work effectively with survivors of gender violence and workplace crimes and how to identify options and obstacles to obtaining secure status. It is for those who are new to this area as well as those who would like to brush up on their technique. For practitioners with more experience, the panel will provide an update on the latest advocacy developments. The panelists are:

  • Sonia Parras-Konrad and Gail Pendleton, Co-founders of ASISTA; and
  • Cecilia Friedman Levin, Senior Policy Counsel, ASISTA.
