NLADA's Appellate Defender Training is the only national program for state and federal defenders that offers an intensive, four-day learning experience designed specifically for attorneys who represent indigent defendants in criminal and delinquency appeals in the state and federal court systems. Taking place this coming January, the conference focuses on small-group workshops in which participants work on their own real cases with experienced defense teachers and litigators.

ADT offers:
• More than 25 hours of small-group training
• Direct coaching and mentorship from distinguished faculty
• Training on new techniques and strategies from criminal defense specialists
• Networking opportunities to meet colleagues who will become resources for you in the future
Tracks:
• Advanced Advocacy -- U.S. Supreme Court (2 groups)
• Skills Writing for Appellate Defenders (7 groups)
• Skills Writing for Federal Defenders & CJA Attorneys (3 groups)
REGISTER EARLY to secure your spot. This conference has a limit of 6 participants per small group.

By the time the conference is over, participants will have thoroughly analyzed the facts of their cases, developed a persuasive story line to support that theory, and begun to prepare an effective written brief and oral argument. This is the only appellate defender conference in the nation where participants work on their real cases, not just hypothetical problems.

This comment from a past attendee summarizes the responses of participants year after year: ADT offers the "best appellate defender training in the country."
