The National Fair Housing Alliance will conduct a webinar on fair housing for servicemembers and veterans on June 3, 2015. Census data indicate that nearly 20 million military veterans reside in the United States. Over 9 million veterans are over the age of 65, and more than 20 percent of veterans have a service-connected disability. It is critical that servicemembers and veterans have access to the housing of their choice. The federal Fair Housing Act protects both civilians and servicemembers from housing discrimination on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex (gender), familial status, and disability. This webinar will provide an introduction to fair housing for servicemembers and veterans, with a focus on disability rights and reasonable accommodations/modifications for veterans with disabilities. Featured presenters are: Susan Prokop, Senior Associate Advocacy Director, Paralyzed Veterans of America and Morgan Williams, General Counsel for the National Fair Housing Alliance. Registration for the webinar is open to all organizations and there is no cost to attend.
