Erie Neighborhood House, the legal service provider for the North West Chicago collaborative of the New Americans Initiative, will be providing a training and orientation for all attorneys interested in assisting with screening for naturalization eligibility at our monthly workshops. Naturalization workshops are held one Saturday each month on the north side of Chicago where legal permanent residents can come and meet with an attorney for a legal screening and then sit with a volunteer to fill out their N-400, Application for Naturalization. Attorney volunteers will use the New Americans Initiative screening tools to assess individual eligibility for naturalization. We ask that all volunteers attend this 2-hour orientation/basic naturalization law training. All volunteers will be under the legal supervision of Erie Neighborhood House, a Board of Immigration Appeals recognized organization. You do not need to be an expert in immigration law. Trained volunteers are asked to stay at the Naturalization Workshops from 8:30 am until 2 pm and will receive a light breakfast and hot lunch. Parking is available.
Registration:
Anyone interested in attending the training and volunteering should contact Megan Granados, Citizenship Coordinator at Erie House, at mgranados@eriehouse.org.
