The AIDS Legal Referral Panel will provide this free MCLE training to educate attorneys on the legal issues faced by people living with HIV/AIDS.

This training will cover defending traffic infractions through appeal, with a brief discussion of misdemeanor and felony charges. We will discuss different plea options, including: guilty vs. not guilty, traffic school eligibility, community service in lieu of fines, discovery requests, trial by written declaration, trial de novo, and the appeal process for infractions. Specific defenses to speeding and other common infractions will also be presented. Next, we will briefly discuss some of the common traffic-related misdemeanor and felony charges, when a competent attorney should be retained, and the criminal procedure for those cases.
