Philadelphia VIP will hold its Pro Bono Opportunities Day: Ethics of Pro Bono, on October 25, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., at EXELON, 2301 Market St., Philadelphia.

Philadelphia VIP, the hub of pro bono legal services in Philadelphia, invites you and your colleagues to attend their signature training event, Pro Bono Opportunities Day, on Tuesday, October 25, 2011.

All attorneys are welcome to attend, whether new to Philadelphia VIP, new to pro bono, or an experienced pro bono practitioner looking to take another case. Attendees will receive information and training on how to use their legal skills to assist those most in need in our community.

This year's event is generously hosted by the Exelon Corporation and will feature a lively and interactive Ethics training, The Ethics of Doing Good: An Overview of the Ethical Implications of Pro Bono Service, by Amy Tarr, the Assistant General Counsel for Exelon; the Honorable Denis Cohen of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania; and Mary Gay Scanlon, Pro Bono Counsel for Ballard Spahr LLP.

Prior to the training, a networking breakfast will be held with judges of the First Judicial District of Pennsylvania featuring keynote speaker Honorable Anne E. Lazarus of the Superior Court of Pennsylvania.

After attending the training session, VIP will offer each participant the opportunity to take a pro bono case. Each attorney who attends the seminar and accepts a case within six months of the training will earn two ethics CLE credits. The cost of the training is $30 per attendee; this includes the cost of breakfast and educational materials, which will be provided.
