Litigating contested divorces

Wednesday March 23
2011

Attorneys will be trained to represent inMotion-referred clients in litigated divorce actions in Supreme Court. Procedural and substantive aspects will be discussed in detail. Issues to be addressed will include: equitable distribution of marital property, spousal support, maintenance, child support and child custody and visitation. Training manuals and sample documents will be provided at the training.

New changes in matrimonial law, including no-fault divorce and the new guidelines for calculating temporary maintenance during the pendency of a divorce, will be highlighted.

A contested divorce case will be assigned at the training or shortly thereafter. Attorneys can work on the case individually or as part of a team of two or more attorneys.

The assigned pro bono case will require one or more court appearances.
