Pro Bono Net is pleased to introduce a new webinar series Pro Bono in New York. Over the coming year, this new series will highlight exciting pro bono organizations and opportunities, and show you how you can get involved. This series has been funded by the New York Community Trust.

Lawyers Alliance for New York and Nonprofit/Community Development Law:
An Introduction to the Lawyers Alliance Pro Bono Program and a Substantive Training on Representing Nonprofits

Description of Session: This program features Lawyers Alliance for New York and focuses on business and transactional pro bono opportunities that help nonprofit organizations throughout the City. You will learn how to find interesting pro bono projects from Lawyers Alliance as well as our supporting resources such as model documents on www.probono.net/ny. In addition, Lawyers Alliance will present substantive training related to Ethical Issues in Pro Bono Representation of Nonprofit Organizations. Topics include: What is different about representing a nonprofit organization? Who is the client? May you represent the organization at the same time as one of its directors, officers or employees? When may you represent multiple nonprofit organizations in the same transaction? May a pro bono attorney serve on the board of directors of the nonprofit client?

Presenters: Lawyers Alliance for New York Deputy Executive Director Elizabeth Guggenheimer and Pro Bono Coordinator Jolynda Burton.
