Overcoming Barriers: Criminal Records and Employment

Tuesday April 29
2008

Getting and keeping a job is a priority for those re-entering society from prisons, but people with criminal records are often unlawfully denied employment or fired from jobs because of their records. This class will provide an overview of the legal obligations of employers and the rights of people with criminal records, as well as recent litigation challenging criminal records discrimination. We will introduce Reentry Net, an online resource center with extensive model materials and other tools that will support your practice in this area. **PLEASE NOTE that this training is for advocates ONLY; staff of government agencies will not be permitted to attend.
