The National Consumer Law Center, Inc. (NCLC) and the National Association of Consumer Advocates, Inc. (NACA) will be holding a Fair Debt Collection Training in Nashville, TN on March 27-29, 2008.

  • Introductory course: Get up to speed to take your first debt collection abuse cases. Learn about the laws protecting consumers from abusive debt collection practices and proceed to more in-depth sessions on developing fair debt collection cases and a fair debt collection law practice.

    Who: The introductory training is for NACA members,* NACBA members with practices limited to consumer cases, assistant attorneys general, and legal aid lawyers who may litigate against debt collectors.
  • Experienced listserve meeting: This meeting focuses on emerging issues and overcoming defensive strategies.

Who: To attend the experienced track, you must be an experienced FDCPA litigator and a member of the NACA FDCPA listserve. The meeting agenda will be distributed on the listserve.

Where: Hilton Nashville Downtown. Rooms are $155 single or double occupancy until March 5, when the rate may be increased. When calling for a reservations, state that it is for the "Fair Debt Training."

  • CLE Credit Comments: NCLC will apply for Continuing Legal Education credit upon request. Please indicate your interest on the registration form. Actual CLE credit varies by state and cannot be guaranteed by NCLC (up to 16.5 hours may be available in 60-minute states and up to 19.8 hours in 50-minute states).
